What counts
Treat these as emergencies.
Burning smells or scorching
At sockets, switches or the consumer unit - switch off at the board and call.
Total power loss
When it is your installation rather than a network outage.
A board that will not stay on
Repeated tripping means a live fault, not an inconvenience.
Water into electrics
Leak over a light fitting or into sockets - electrics off, then call us for both trades.
Buzzing or hot accessories
Sockets and switches should be silent and cool. Ever.
Exposed or damaged wiring
Made safe first, repaired properly second.
While you wait
Switch off, then step back.
If something smells hot or sparks, switch the affected circuit off at the consumer unit - the whole board if unsure. Do not keep resetting a breaker that keeps tripping; it is telling you something.
A power cut street-wide is the network operator - call 105. Your property only? Call 07988 830642.
FAQs
Questions we hear a lot.
My power is off - you or the network?
Check the neighbours. Street dark too? Call 105 (free, any network operator). Just you? Check the consumer unit, then call us.
Is a tripping breaker dangerous?
The trip itself is protection working - but whatever keeps causing it needs finding. Do not hold it on; book fault finding or call now if it will not reset.
Water came through a light fitting - what now?
Lights off at the board and do not touch the fitting. One call gets you both the leak and the electrics sorted.
